Privacy Policy

SugarWalk ("the app") is built to work entirely on your device. This policy describes exactly what the app does and does not do with your data.

What the app collects

Nothing leaves your device. SugarWalk has no backend server and does not transmit your data anywhere. Specifically:

• App selections. The apps you choose to lock are selected via Apple's FamilyActivityPicker. SugarWalk never sees which specific apps you picked — Apple's Screen Time framework only gives the app an opaque, non-identifying token for each selection.
• Motion & fitness data. SugarWalk uses Core Motion (CMMotionActivityManager and CMPedometer) to detect when you're walking, so it can confirm your post-meal walk and unlock your apps automatically. This processing happens entirely on your device. SugarWalk does not store a history of your movements beyond what's needed to confirm each walk, and never transmits motion data anywhere.
• Apple Health (read-only). If you allow it, SugarWalk reads walking and step data from Apple Health. This exists for one reason: so a walk you took with your Apple Watch while your iPhone was at home still counts. SugarWalk only ever reads — it never writes anything to Apple Health — and it only reads walking data recorded by your iPhone or Apple Watch, ignoring data written by other apps. You can decline this and the app still works; you would just need your phone with you on the walk.
• Meal schedule and walk history. The times you set for lunch/dinner, your walk-completion streak, and pass-pool usage are stored locally on your device only.
• Notifications. Local notifications only (walk reminders, unlock confirmations) — not push notifications from a server, since there is no server.

What the app does not do

• No account creation or sign-in is required to use the app.
• No advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or third-party trackers are included.
• No data is sold, shared, or transmitted to any third party.
• No camera or photo access is used.

Subscriptions

SugarWalk offers an optional paid subscription for unlimited apps and meals, handled entirely through Apple's In-App Purchase / StoreKit system. Payment information is handled by Apple, not by SugarWalk — the app never sees or stores your payment details.

Health-related framing

SugarWalk provides general, educational information about post-meal walking and is not a medical device, does not provide personalized health data or clinical claims, and is not a substitute for professional medical advice.

Future changes

If a future version of the app adds an optional account-based feature (for example, a shared accountability-group feature under consideration but not yet built), this policy will be updated before that feature ships, and any such feature will be clearly optional.
